Koganei Koen is the second-largest park in the Tokyo metropolitan area.  With its nearly 2,000 sakura trees (cherry blossoms) in 52 varieties, the park is designated as one of the best sakura spots in Japan.

The park is a sight to see in early April, as the city celebrate sakura matsuri or cherry blossom festival.  Performances including folk entertainment, music, parade, flower arrangement, tea ceremonies and other cultural activities are held during this time.
