Summer is the season of fireworks or hanabi in Japan.  Almost every night from mid-July through August, communities around the country stage lively display of fireworks, colorfully enlivening the night skies.  This brightly colored symbol of Japan’s summer have been traditionally set off to pray for the repose of the soul of deceased people, but has evolved into communal outdoor party/gathering to enjoy the cool evening air during the hot summer season.
